Notice in the chart above that professionals, scientists and engineers have even ratios of democrat to republican. Social sciences, humanities and interdisciplinary trend ever more heavily to democrat.

Ask yourself why this is. Professionals, scientists and engineers operate in the world of physical reality. If they misjudge reality, reality will slap then down in a heartbeat.

Social sciences and humanities operate almost entirely within the mind. Such people almost literally say that whatever they imagine is the true reality. So, if they can imagine it, to them that is unquestionable reality. We used to call such people psychotic. Today, we call them progressives.

Yes, there isn't much demand for woke bridges. Although the sciences are less likely to avoid the madness, I've been discouraged by how much the medical community has been seduced by it.

Terrific post, but I'm confused by that graph. Why are some bars purple and others green? Do they indicate different metrics?

Thanks, Irwin. Yeah, good question about that graph. I think the different colors were just an artistic choice and I don't think they represent anything different. Definitely confusing.

There’s an interesting factor to that debate. Apparently Rogan would not have Murray on alone. One of the conditions was to have Smith there with him.

I understand his desire to have someone counterpoint Murray, but he could have chosen better. I have immense respect for both Rogan and Murray, but I have below zero respect for Smith as I’ve made clear on my Substack. I agree with Rich Lowry over at National Review. He is the Whoopi Goldberg libertarian.

Having said that. I came to the same conclusion as you. That for all his talk on minimizing the need for expertise in this domain, Rogan, as a martial arts expert, would never give a pass to any of the people that are often feature over at the McDojo YouTube channel. I don’t even think he would ever give a pass to anyone who hasn’t stepped on a ring to talk about fighting.

Wow, very interesting back story. And I probably haven't heard as much from Smith as you have. Maybe I'm judging him compared to other comedians. That's a pretty low bar. And I think all of us value expertise. We couldn't make it through a day without it. Specialization and division of labor built our modern societies.

Yes, wide is definitely different than deep. And it's important for all of us to understand the limitations of our knowledge.
